Next Tuesday morning, while most of us are sleeping, eighty war-era Veterans will gather at 4 a.m. and report to duty one last time. Their mission, to fly to Washington, D.C. to tour the memorials built in their honor. Most of them are in their 80’s and 90’s, many of them are from the ‘greatest generation’ – ALL of them deserve our gratitude.
It’s a great day for them – but it’s also a long and sometimes very emotional day. When they return home, they expect their families to greet them. What they don’t expect is for YOU to greet them, a complete stranger. But later they will tell us how very much your presence, remembrance and handshake meant to them.
Join us on Tuesday, April 24th at 8 PM at the St. Pete/Clearwater Airport as Honor Flight of West Central Florida welcomes home the Veterans of Mission 33! Bring your family, friends and a flag! Parking is free but the experience is priceless.
Honor Flight of West Central Florida is a non-profit organization, a hub of the national Honor Flight Network. Our mission is to fly war-era Veterans (free of charge) to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor. Since 2010, we have flown 32 missions, serving over 2,500 Veterans.
